About the role

The Wilmington Trust Institutional Services (IS) division is experiencing rapid business growth and has initiated a strategic program of continuous improvement to support these growth objectives. The goals of the program are to reduce operational issues and risks by standardizing processes, implementing best practices in key areas, and adding new governance and control functions. Additionally, long-term digital transformation is required to grow revenue through new and transformed digital-first trust and agency service products, to move from a product-centric to client-centric operating model, to move from market-specific to global solutions, and to dramatically lower the cost to serve.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain scalable and robust automation frameworks (UI, API, and performance).
  • Define and implement the overall test automation strategy, including tooling, scripting, and architecture decisions.
  • Create and maintain reusable test harness frameworks to support automated validation of complex workflows, enabling efficient execution, scalability, and traceability across UI, API, and integration layers.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement new testing tools and technologies; explore ways to improve testing efficiency and coverage through AI-assisted tools and practices.
  • Collaborate with Development teams to understand system architecture and implementation; collaborate with Product Owner team by engaging in regular sprint planning and backlog grooming sessions to understand product requirements and acceptance criteria, translating them into comprehensive test automation strategies that ensure coverage of both functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineers to integrate automated tests into CI/CD (Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment) pipelines using pertinent tools ensuring seamless and efficient test execution throughout the development life cycle.
  • Review code and test scripts to ensure quality, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Drive test data strategy and environment management for automation needs.
  • Contribute to performance, security, and load testing strategy and implementation.
  • Continuously monitor and improve test automation metrics and KPIs (Key Performance Indicators).
  • Publish automation test execution status report with traceability of test coverage at feature level and communicate it to stakeholders to ensure their awareness of progress and identify any issues upfront.
  • Solve complex technical and operational problems. Serve as a resource for less experienced teammates.
  • Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
  • Promote an environment that supports a culture of belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience with fat client (thick client) application testing is required, including complex UI, local processing, and integration validation.
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field and a minimum of 3 years’ software quality assurance and control experience with creation and maintenance of test scripts for desktop/web applications/API/webservices testing and a minimum of 2 years’ in a test automation architect or similar role, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 7 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 3 years’ software quality assurance and control experience with creation and maintenance of test scripts for desktop/web applications/API/webservices testing and a minimum of 2 years’ in a test automation architect or similar role.
  • Strong programming skills in one or more pertinent languages.
  • Sound understanding of quality control methodologies, tools, and processes.
  • Sound knowledge of agile development methodologies and Development Operations practices.
  • Familiarity with pertinent defect tracking systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.

Skills

Benefits

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $82,100.00 - $136,900.00 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.

Schedule

Hybrid (4 days in office) within M&T's footprint. Will offer flexibility to work remote if based outside of the M&T footprint.
