Primary location: Children's for Children Daycare, Department of Early Education and Care. Full-time position, 40 hours per week.
Responsibilities
- Compliance: Maintain compliance with NAEYC code of ethics, city and state regulations, and accreditation requirements for early education and care programs. Update evidence binders and training as required. Complete Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) documentation, follow food-service rules, and attend CACFP training.
- Oversight: Oversee planning, implementation, and communication of high-quality, age-appropriate programming addressing individual, small-group, and large-group needs. Demonstrate evidence-based practices in program design, communication, and work products. Guide classroom behavior and engagement through inquiry, redirection, verbalizing feelings, encouraging problem-solving, and setting consistent limits.
- Documentation: Complete clear documentation and written reports (daily reports, lesson plans, newsletters, training evidence, professional development plans) for parents, co-workers, and regulatory agents. Review and provide feedback on written communications and materials prepared by Teachers. Use varied communication strategies to build constructive relationships, integrate family requests and traditions, and provide non-judgmental support. Respond promptly to parent concerns, conduct tours, and orient new families.
- Organizational Performance: Recommend improvements in processes, technology, procedures, data collection, and department discussions. Provide leadership, guidance, and coaching to Teachers and volunteers. Contribute to probationary and annual reviews. Help maintain budget targets by recommending purchases, staffing structures, and process efficiencies.
- Assessment: Assess each child’s development using progress reports, screening instruments, direct observation, and input from families and stakeholders. Oversee, coordinate, compile, and communicate assessment information. Link assessment data to growth opportunities across all developmental domains. Supervise care and staff in the classroom or childcare setting.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Associate’s degree in early childhood.
- 3+ years of work experience in a related discipline.
- Preferred: Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.
Pay
Starting pay range: $19.29 – $23.92 per hour, based on experience, skills, and equity. Exceptions may apply for highly qualified candidates. Additional pay (e.g., shift, on-call, or weekend differentials) and benefits may apply. Annual pay may vary based on FTE status.
