Responsibilities

  • Administer security requirements and classification guidance for classified contracts.
  • Serve as a Qualified Security Contracting Officer.
  • Act as a subject matter expert and facilitator or negotiator in coordinating team initiatives.
  • Develop plans and coordinate and establish priorities of the Industrial Security Program.
  • Identify and develop training needs of subordinates and arrange for development and training.
  • Provide guidance, assistance, and oversight to the Industrial Security Program.
  • Validate classification guidance, review, and sign the DD-254 for classified contracts.
  • Verify facility clearance and safeguards capability prior to release of classified information.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
  • Current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level (time-in-grade requirement).
  • Appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date is subject to specific provisions.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • Required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
  • Work is performed in areas with potentially harmful physical and chemical agents (e.g., fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, and chemicals). Participation in medical surveillance programs is required.
  • May require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS, including remote or isolated sites. Must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must include:

  • Evaluating, reviewing, and approving classified contracts to establish contractor security criteria and eligibility to access classified information and restricted data to support industrial security programs.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills.
