About the Role
Subject matter procurement expert for assigned Indirect Procurement Categories (non-PO). Research suppliers from a variety of sources, confer with suppliers to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule from a total cost of ownership (TCO) perspective. Responsible for short- and long-term planning and strategizing for indirect procurement Non-PO categories, including Technology, Facilities, Professional Business Services, Private Destination, Product Development, Consulting, Legal, Financial Services, HR, Marketing, and External Staffing.
Responsibilities
- Performs complex price analysis of multiple variables.
- Expert use of analysis, forecasting, problem-solving, and quality improvement to develop strategies for dynamic market conditions.
- Develops procurement and negotiation strategies based on multiple and often complex variables.
- Negotiates price, availability, quality, service, and delivery schedule, often in high-volatility situations with limited guidelines.
- Analyzes and incorporates specific market data into negotiations, strategies, and plans for indirect procurement categories.
- Communicates and presents clear strategies, plans, and cost impacts to upper management.
- Performs strategic sourcing activities through launching and managing competitive bidding processes (RFPs) for values above $100,000.
- Measures and evaluates suppliers under a Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) program.
- Contributes to the company’s supply chain and procurement policies, driving change.
- Manages category strategies, stakeholder engagement (including Senior Executives), and value creation targets under the strategic sourcing process.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned by management.
Requirements
- 8+ years of related procurement experience, category management, or specialized technical experience.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field.
- Experience with Sourcing, Contracting, and P2P suites (e.g., Oracle, Coupa, SAP Ariba) is preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects and priorities.
- Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate in a multicultural environment with all levels of employees and management.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel.
- Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from suppliers and all levels of staff and management.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Frequently required to sit and talk or hear; occasionally required to stand and walk.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision and color vision.
- Up to 25% domestic and international travel, as necessary.
Oversees a multimillion-dollar category spend (up to $1 billion in Non-PO spend).
