Qualifications

To qualify for this position - applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required - but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge - skills - and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards. SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element - which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated.

Duties

  • cleaning wards - patient rooms - storerooms - offices - corridors - restrooms - shower rooms - and other areas
  • sweeping - mopping - scrubbing (machine) floors
  • vacuuming carpets and upholstered furniture
  • emptying waste baskets
  • cleaning light globes and Venetian blinds - washing walls - windows and ceilings by climbing small ladders
  • refilling toilet tissue and towel dispensers and moving furniture
  • leading housekeeping aids

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm (subject to change based on the needs of the agency)

Physical Requirements

  • occasional bending/stooping - crouching - and kneeling
  • must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • 40% of time spent standing - 40% of time spent walking and 20% of time spent sitting
  • required to use a phone - operate vehicles - and have average manual dexterity

Working Conditions

  • accomplished in a variety of different areas including operating rooms - treatment rooms - examination rooms - imaging rooms - wards and other public - recreational and administrative areas
  • protective clothing and personnel protective equipment (PPE) including gowns - gloves - safety shoes - masks - etcis required in the accomplishment of some aspects of the work
  • potential for exposure to strong cleaning solutions - bodily fluids and communicable disease
  • work can involve occupied patient rooms and interaction with both medical and psychiatric patients
  • may be required to work inside and outside
  • may require some exposure to hazardous cleaning chemicals.
