Lead Historic Preservation Specialist (Part-Time - 30hrs/week)

About the role

ICF is seeking a Lead Historic Preservation Specialist to provide regional leadership in a dynamic, fast-paced environment on influential and complex environmental compliance projects. This part-time role (30 hours/week) involves serving as a mentor to junior- and mid-level cultural resources professionals while delivering client-facing technical leadership in cultural resource management. Responsibilities include project management, senior-level technical expertise, proposal preparation, client communication, and budget/schedule tracking.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership in architectural history, including approach development, task delegation, and QA/QC for reports/documents prepared by junior staff
• Manage environmental compliance and cultural resource projects, including client contact, task order management, budget control, invoicing, scheduling, personnel allocation, and subcontractor involvement
• Evaluate resources for the National Register of Historic Places, develop management recommendations, assess project effects, and address complex challenges requiring advanced technical/regulatory knowledge
• Collaborate in integrated teams of cultural resources specialists (archaeologists, historians, ethnographers, landscape historians) alongside scientists, planners, regulators, engineers, and stakeholders
• Integrate with clients to achieve long-term objectives, from programmatic strategies and feasibility studies through implementation, operations, and maintenance

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Architectural History or related field
• 6+ years of professional experience in cultural resources management
• Valid driver's license and ability to pass an MVR check

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of NEPA and Section 106 regulatory requirements
• Experience working with private/public sector clients and regulatory agencies in the Southeast
• Expertise in Southeastern U.S. history/architectural history; knowledge of other U.S. regions is a plus
• Specializations such as historic landscapes, public history, or history

Pay

$81,499.00 - $138,549.00 (full-time equivalent range; actual pay for this part-time role will be prorated based on hours worked)
