Job Description and Duties

The Analyst III acts as the lead and performs the more complex analytical, research, and technical duties in support of the nonprofit security grants and other grant programs. The incumbent is responsible for reviewing, analyzing, researching, and preparing sensitive grant-related data; applying established state and federal laws, regulations, policies, and procedures; and preparing analytical summaries, correspondence, reports, and supporting documentation for management, or executive review.

Work is performed within clearly defined guidelines and timeframes. Exercises independence and autonomy in the interpretation of policy and makes recommendations to the Supervisor II regarding policy exceptions and impacts. The Analyst III works independently on the more responsible and complex assignments and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate grant administration.

Working Conditions

Hybrid Telework: This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule. Additional in office days may be required based on the business need.

DMV Pull Program: Participation in the DMV Pull Program is required. The position(s) require(s) a valid Driver’s License (DL). You must answer the questions addressing your DL on your application. Ensure you provide your DL number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions.

This position is located in the Emergency Preparedness Grants Unit in Mather, CA.

Department Information

The California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) is an emergency response, homeland security, and disaster recovery agency and as a result, is a dynamic and exciting place to work in a team-oriented environment. Cal OES provides training to enhance the understanding of emergency and incident management to all employees.

The Finance & Logistics Administration Directorate oversees sections managing Cal OES operations including budgeting, fiscal analysis, accounting, grants management, human resources, labor relations, staff recruitment, examinations, organization and professional development, disaster and internal logistics support. The Directorate is comprised of four sections: Administrative Services, Human Resources, Grants Management and Logistics.

In the event of an emergency, employees may be contacted and requested to report to work in the event of an emergency. This contact may be outside of your normal working hours (evenings/nights, weekends, and holidays). This service may require irregular work hours, work locations other than the official duty location, and may include duties other than those specified in your official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and you may be required to relocate to emergency sites.
