About the role

K.M. Dastur & Company Limited (KMD) is seeking a senior professional to lead global business development and strategic partnerships at the intersection of climate risk, agriculture, insurance, resilience and financial inclusion. The primary focus is to identify opportunities, build institutional relationships and secure commercially viable, impactful assignments across Africa, Asia and other emerging and developing markets. You will engage governments, development institutions, donors, insurers, reinsurers and private‑sector partners, connecting policy priorities and development needs with insurance expertise to turn ideas into funded programs and lasting partnerships. The role combines strategic thinking, commercial judgement and oversight of international assignments.

Responsibilities

• Drive business growth: Build and manage an opportunity pipeline, leading proposals, bids and commercial negotiations to secure new mandates.
• Build strategic partnerships: Develop institutional relationships and consortia that connect technical expertise with funding and implementation partners.
• Shape market opportunities: Translate climate, agriculture and development priorities into practical insurance and risk‑financing propositions.
• Provide strategic oversight: Guide international assignments, coordinate technical teams and delivery partners, and ensure quality, client satisfaction and commercial outcomes.
• Represent KMD globally: Participate in senior client discussions, policy dialogues, conferences and industry forums to strengthen visibility and relationships.

Qualifications

• A demonstrated track record in international business development, strategic partnerships or institutional relationship management, including securing mandates, funded programs or commercial partnerships.
• Relevant expertise in climate risk and finance, agricultural insurance, inclusive insurance, disaster risk financing, development finance, insurance/reinsurance or international development.
• Experience engaging with governments, development institutions, donors or senior insurance‑sector stakeholders.
• A relevant degree in business, economics, finance, public policy, international development, agriculture or a related discipline.
• An established international network and experience across Africa, Asia or other emerging markets would be valuable.
