Lead Global Architect - AI Solutions

About the role

Enterprise Technology is a global organization within Transamerica that provides dedicated application support across Aegon’s business units through technology. The team builds the company’s AI environment, delivers a flexible cloud hosting experience, designs data governance frameworks, and ensures the security and stability of the company’s technology so business units can move quickly and serve clients reliably. Enterprise Technology spans six countries, employs over 1,000 people from a dozen nationalities, and covers functions such as application development, information security, infrastructure services, data & analytics, risk & controls, procurement, program management, and architecture. Responsibilities

• Collaborate with enterprise and solution architects, engineers, and product owners to establish solution architecture designs for cloud and on-premises solutions, infrastructure, and tools.
• Create architectural artifacts that support robust, reusable, scalable, and secure solutions using approved standards, patterns, and reference architectures.
• Follow best practices for architecture artifacts, maintain standards, facilitate Architecture Review Board approvals, and contribute to the enterprise architecture repository to enable reuse.
• Act as architecture advisor and validator during build, test, deploy, and operate stages of the systems development lifecycle.
• Stay current with advances in solution architecture, evaluate emerging technologies, and contribute to project requirements.
• Provide and receive feedback on architectural artifacts and embrace continuous improvement.
• Design APIs and data delivery services that support operational processes, analytical models, and machine learning applications.
• Manage stakeholder communication, translating complex technical concepts into understandable terms.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, math, engineering, MIS, or equivalent experience.
• Solution architecture, technology, and platform certifications (e.g., AWS, Microsoft).
• Eight years of collective experience in technology solution design, software engineering, and agile or waterfall methodologies.
• Four years of experience architecting, building, and administering complex solutions in both on-premises and cloud environments.
• Strong analytical, critical, and strategic thinking skills.
• Ability to work independently and deliver successful project outcomes.
• Demonstrated leadership and team-building abilities.
• Competence in managing conflict effectively within a project context.
• Proven ability to influence and sell ideas to diverse stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Strong prioritization skills to meet tight deadlines.

Preferred qualifications

• Professional experience in financial services, insurance, banking, or software development.
• Thorough knowledge of OpenAPI Specification, REST, API design, security, and implementation.
• Software development experience in relevant languages (e.g., Java, Python, Scala, Node.js, SQL).

Work environment

• Hybrid office schedule: in office Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
• Occasional travel required.
• Flexibility to work outside standard hours to support global teams and initiatives.

Pay

The salary range for this position is generally $145,600 – $168,000 annually, with actual starting pay determined by qualifications, experience, location, work designation, and operational needs. Salary may vary above or below the stated range as permitted by applicable law. This position is typically eligible for an annual bonus based on the Company Bonus Plan and individual performance.
