Lead for Student Research, Scholarship, and Pathways (Emeryville, CA)

Opportunity Information Sutter Health Academic Affairs is seeking a part-time Lead for Student Research, Scholarship, and Pathways. This leadership role will oversee and expand research, scholarship, mentorship, and workforce development programs that support learners across the educational continuum and strengthen Sutter Health's academic mission. Position Details 0.3 FTE leadership role, with increased activity during spring and summer programming periodsReports to the Sutter Chief Academic Officer or designated Academic Affairs leaderOversees the medical student scholarship and summer research programsLeads planning and development of future pathway programs, including a postbaccalaureate research program and post-residency scholarly fellowshipCollaborates with medical schools, faculty mentors, researchers, clinical leaders, and GME programs Supports physician workforce development and academic pathway initiatives Qualifications MD, DO, PhD, or other relevant terminal degreeMinimum five years of experience in medical education, research, scholarship, clinical leadership, or related fieldsDemonstrated experience in student research, scholarship, mentorship, or pathway programsExperience overseeing scholarly or research projects involving medical students or traineesKnowledge of research ethics, compliance, and project governance principlesStrong collaborative leadership, communication, and organizational skillsAbility to effectively work across academic, clinical, research, and operational environments Preferred Qualifications Experience leading educational or research programsTrack record of supporting scholarly products such as abstracts, posters, presentations, and publicationsExperience in faculty or mentor developmentLeadership experience within an academic health system, teaching hospital, research institution, or medical school partnershipFamiliarity with LCME standards and student research program requirements Organization Details About Sutter Health Academic Affairs Sutter Health Academic Affairs supports innovative educational programs, learner development, and academic partnerships that strengthen the future physician workforce.
