Primary Responsibilities

  • Maintains adequate staffing levels and efficient, effective workflow and scheduling.
  • Provides training to phlebotomists to ensure competency.
  • Provides data input for the payroll system in the absence of Supervisor and Phlebotomy Leaders.
  • Acts as a technical resource for all difficult Phlebotomy blood draws for the institution.
  • Ensures rounds are completed as scheduled and provides assistance, as needed, to maintain timelines of routine and STAT blood draws.
  • Communicates lab issues and problems to Clinical Supervisor/Clinical Manager and recommends resolution.
  • On a daily basis, interacts and communicates with customers including patients, site office manager, physicians, and medical assistants.
  • Shares on-call duties.
  • Provides input for performance appraisals.
  • Ensures 24/7 coverage for Inpatient Rounds.

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Registration Phlebotomy Certificate preferred.
  • Phlebotomy Certificate preferred.
  • 1-3 years related work experience required.
  • Basic familiarity with computers.
  • Ability to navigate at a basic level within web-based applications.

  • Work requires close attention to task for work to be accurately completed.
  • Intermittent breaks during the work day do not compromise the work.
  • Work routine is fairly consistent, but employee needs to be able to use judgment to respond to events several times a week.

No substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions

Health Care Status

  • HCW1: Regular, day-to-day contact; both face-to-face and hands-on (having close contact within three feet for at least five minutes).
  • Examples: physicians, clinical nurses, phlebotomist, medical assistants, PFT tech, and x-ray tech.

Pay Range

$24.26 - $32.64
