Lead Fire Sprinkler Technician

About the role

Zing is seeking an experienced Lead Fire Sprinkler Technician to join a growing fire protection team serving commercial customers throughout the Norfolk, VA area. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled technician who enjoys troubleshooting, inspecting, repairing, and maintaining fire sprinkler systems while working independently and directly with customers.

Responsibilities

• Perform service, inspection, testing, troubleshooting, and repairs on commercial fire sprinkler systems
• Respond to service calls and diagnose sprinkler system issues
• Conduct inspections and testing in accordance with NFPA 25
• Identify code deficiencies and non-conformance issues
• Perform fire pump flow testing when required
• Complete detailed inspection reports and service documentation
• Communicate findings and repair recommendations to customers
• Participate in an on-call rotation schedule

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of fire sprinkler inspection and repair experience
• Strong knowledge and understanding of NFPA codes
• NICET certification preferred or willingness to become certified
• Experience with wet, dry, deluge, and/or pre-action sprinkler systems
• Fire pump testing experience preferred
• Valid driver's license with 3 or fewer points
• Minimum 3 years of licensed driving experience
• Ability to work on ladders ranging from 6 to 12 feet and operate lifts
• Ability to lift up to 70 pounds
• Comfortable working overhead, in attics, crawl spaces, and confined areas
• Strong customer service, communication, and documentation skills
• Organized and capable of managing service tickets and required paperwork
