Lead Field Service Technician Solar
Safety
The Lead Technician will follow safety and security procedures and determine appropriate action. They will ensure safety is the most important function, adhere to safe practices while working, reinforce safe behaviors, report potentially unsafe conditions, and use materials and equipment properly. They will also ensure Job Hazard Analysis (JHA’s) occur before scopes of work commence and adhere to and understand standard operating procedures.

About the Role
The Lead Technician will lead a team of field service technicians in operating and maintaining utility scale solar facilities. This work includes preventive and corrective maintenance of on-site assets such as solar panels, trackers, power inverters, and substation components.
Responsibilities
- Mentors and sets positive example for junior technicians.
- Collaborates with senior line managers for plant maintenance.
- Troubleshoots low voltage DC power systems.
- Troubleshoots low voltage, medium voltage, and high voltage AC power systems.
- Conducts preventive maintenance on AC and DC power systems.
- Identifies faulty or underperforming equipment.
- Utilizes hand tools effectively and appropriately.
- Utilizes a computerized maintenance management system.
- Maintains inventory of spare parts and consumables.
- Develops and administers site operating plans.
- Develops and implements site safety plans.
- Adheres to proper Lock-out-tag-out (LOTO) practices and procedures.
- Leads daily tailboards and conducts job hazard analysis (JHA).
- Interfaces with project stakeholders (owners, equipment manufacturers, etc.)
- Interfaces with project subcontractors.
- Represents RES in professional manner.
- Responds to physical location within 1.5 hours for emergency calls identified as a priority by Operations Control Center.
- Operates RES company vehicles, including trucks, in accordance with state and federal laws and RES policies.
- Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.
- Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct and Company Policies & Procedures.
- Rotating on-call schedule for emergency response.
- Presents, supports, and leads-by-example with a safety and quality-oriented attitude.
Qualifications
- Highschool Diploma/GED required.
- Associate’s degree in technical field required.
- 5+ years related electrical maintenance experience required.
- 3+ years medium voltage electrical work experience required.
- 2+ years high voltage electrical work experience required.
- 2+ years managing or leading field technicians.
- Valid Driver’s License Required.
- Ability to reside with a maximum commuting distance of 60 miles from the work site to ensure availability for on-site responsibilities.
- Ability to travel 5-15%.
- OSHA 10/30 preferred.
- FAA Part 107 Drone Pilot preferred.
- Infrared Thermography (any level) preferred.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Advanced Knowledge: Low voltage DC power systems, Low voltage, medium voltage, and high voltage AC power systems, Drawings, Theory, OSHA regulations, Hand tools, Equipment operation (skid-steer, forklift, etc.), Electrical tools (multimeter, IR camera), IV curve tracing, ANSI/NETA MTS, SCADA systems.

The anticipated base salary range is $38.13 - $47.66. The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. Physical Requirements and Environment
The work environment and physical demands characteristics are representative of those the employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee is rarely exposed to wet, noise, or vibrations in the work environment. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme cold, extreme heat, and humidity in the work environment. The employee is constantly exposed to hazards in the word environment.
