About the role

The Field Service Technician I, Lead position supports Plug Power's fuel cell products installed in electric lift trucks. Key responsibilities include maintaining and servicing fuel cells, performing diagnostics, and providing emergency support.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and service fuel cells at customer sites.
  • Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and evaluations to maintain the fleet.
  • Perform specialized service procedures, including field retrofits and software and hardware upgrades.
  • Provide emergency support service to customers as required.
  • Purchase tools, equipment, and parts for customer service and support.
  • May troubleshoot and maintain high-pressure hydrogen storage, delivery, and fueling systems.
  • Communicate with customers and suppliers regarding fuel cell support.
  • Provide regular feedback to regional service representatives.
  • Complete administrative duties and documentation, including incident reports, service logs, inventory maintenance, and site documentation.
  • Enforce safety procedures in the field.
  • Travel as required for business needs.

Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent with technical electrical coursework.
  • Three (3) or more years of direct experience in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Valid driver license, clean driving record, and ability to operate a motor vehicle safely.
  • Knowledge of lift truck operation and applications is highly preferred.
  • General mechanical aptitude.
  • Computer and software systems skills as applicable to position, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated ability to use tools and follow standard procedures.
  • Dynamic interpersonal skills and effective communication with diverse audiences.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Creativity in solving technical problems.
  • Exceptional time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Punctual and reliable.

Lead Requirements

  • Site Truck Availability: Ensure site truck availability at designated customer sites.
  • Site Evaluation Score: Maintain an average or excellent score on quarterly site evaluations.
  • Hydrogen System Maintenance: Manage preventative maintenance schedules, perform audits and inspections, and certify efficiency audits.
  • Customer & Internal Communication: Regularly communicate with customers and support internal meetings.
  • Tech Support: Mentor technicians, train on site-specific policies, and provide technical guidance.
