Lead Field Engineer - Power

Essential Responsibilities

• Performs installation and commissioning on drive systems, power systems, automation systems or dynamic positioning systems at customer site locations during ship construction.
• Performs troubleshooting activities at site locations during scheduled Port visits or at sea to diagnose problems, determine appropriate resolution, and implements corrective actions.
• Performs a wide range of engineering tasks to ensure the technical integrity and proper installation and commissioning of our equipment.
• Develops documentation to execute work such as commissioning and maintenance procedures, as well as executes customer training.
• Executes on-site project management and technical leader duties to resolve customer issues and provide customer satisfaction.
• Identifies sales opportunities for service agreements, spare parts, training, and upgrades.
• Provides on-call support in response to customer calls for service.
• Assists in the growth and direction of the North American business.
• Provides support to engineering teams working on customer upgrade projects.
• Completes timely service reports and other administrative requirements.
• Performs work on-board vessels within GE/Customer safety guidelines either in shipyards or offshore.
• May require extended hours/overtime during peak periods and emergency circumstances.
• Might require domestic or overseas travel to customer sites for extended periods of time.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited college or university, or
• Associate's Degree or related discipline from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 5 additional years of related industry experience, or
• School diploma or GED equivalency with a minimum of 8 years of related industry experience.

• Ability and willingness to travel 85% of the time on short notice.

• Must be physically fit to be able to board vessels offshore.
• For field service engineers that have the potential of working offshore, must be able to pass a Helicopter Underwater Egress Training (HUET) and offshore survival course which includes activities in a swimming pool.

• US Person with the ability to achieve security clearance for Department of Defense projects.

• Possesses leadership qualities that align with GE Vernova Way.

• Background in a customer-facing position within a Service environment.

• Ability to execute increasingly complicated assignments, which require considerable engineering skill and creative ability and independent judgment.

Work environment at onsite locations is of a construction type setting. Whilst performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, risk of trips, slips and falls. The noise level on-site or on-board ships can be excessive, personal protective equipment (PPE) will be required.

Strong computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize MS Office applications.
