About the role
This position serves as the Assistant Exercise Program Manager for the 1st Joint Special Operations Air Component (JSOAC), overseeing the development and execution of coordinated exercises involving special operations and conventional aviation assets.
Responsibilities
- Directs the development of the overall exercise schedule, oversees coordination and scheduling of conferences, and manages the execution of site surveys, range scheduling, and participation of aviation assets.
- Coordinates all aspects of aviation, support, training requirements, and after-action reviews for 1st JSOAC coordinated exercises.
- Supervises the preparation of messages and reports relating to planning conferences, site surveys, and meetings.
- Provides oversight of aviation planning, assignment of exercise planners and Aviation Coordination Specialists, and execution of the 1st JSOAC exercise program.
- Manages the Air Asset Allocation Conference (AAAC) program.
Requirements
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access for the duration of employment.
- This is a testing designated position; personnel must sign DA Form 5019-R (Condition of Employment for Certain Civilian Positions Identified as Critical under the Department of the Army Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program).
- May require TDY travel over 30 days to CONUS and OCONUS locations up to 30% of the time, including travel on military aircraft, ships, and vehicles.
- Position is deployable and may require extended TDY to OCONUS locations, including a pre-employment physical and subsequent physicals prior to OCONUS travel over 30 days.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds and pass a pre-employment physical.
- Must reside within the local area (50 miles) and be able to report to work within one hour’s notice.
- May require uncommon tour of duty hours, including fixed or rotating shifts, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Appointment is subject to a one-year probationary period unless previously met under 5 CFR Part 315.
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
- Must provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
- Direct deposit of pay is required.
Qualifications
To qualify, you must meet the following experience requirements:
- One year of specialized experience, including assisting in planning and conducting joint field training exercises and operations; developing and preparing correspondence such as policies, procedures, and instructions in support of the joint exercise program; and communicating clearly and effectively with senior leaders and high-ranking officials.
- This experience must be equivalent to work performed at the GS-12 level in the federal service.
- No substitution of education for experience is permitted for this position.
Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
