Lead Excavator Operator- Telluride, CO
About the role
This is a skilled position involving the safe and efficient operation of various types of construction equipment including but not limited to Loaders, Back Hoes, Track Hoes, Haul Trucks, Etc. Pay ranges from $23 to $28 an hour, based on experience.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties And Functions)
- Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
- Properly follow all company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment.
- Report any problems to the Foreman, Superintendent, Safety Manager, or Human Resources Manager.
- Be able to follow signals from the pipe layer. Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement, and materials with shovel.
- Follow direction of Foreman as to daily tasks and expectations for each specific project or jobsite.
- May be called upon to run other equipment such as but not limited to Dozer, Skid loader, Loader, articulated truck, grader and Sheep foot.
- Digs, spreads, and levels construction materials.
- Maintain cleanliness of machine.
- Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required.
- Other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or General Education Degree GED is preferred.
- Must have 1 year full time experience operating an excavator.
- Must have experience digging around live utilities, and in tight work spaces.
Work Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check.
- Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
- Must maintain current driver license.
- Willingness to travel and work away from home when required.
- Maintain current driver license.
- Must be willing to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA.
Physical Requirements
- Able to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to manipulate objects or controls, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk and hear.
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, and extreme heat.
- The employee is frequently required to sit, climb, and use hands.
- The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, crawl, kneel, bend and reach with hand and arms above their shoulders.
- Able to exert 10-20 lbs. constantly to move objects, 25-50 lbs. of force frequently, and 50-100 lbs. of force occasionally.
