Overall planning and management of estimating activities for specific construction projects, including preparation, interpretation, and presentation of estimates.
Responsibilities
- Simultaneously leads one or more estimate/budget/pursuit and supports others on estimating pursuits
- Mentors estimating staff
- Diagnoses errors, scope, and exclusions in subcontractor estimates
- Reviews, prepares, and oversees others’ quantity take-offs
- Trains and develops intern and interim project engineers
- Spearheads and maintains historical costs
- Prepares customized subcontracting bidders list(s) tailored to the job type
- Maintains strong relationships with trade partners
- Assists jobsite staff with estimating support
- Prepares accurate quantity takeoffs and material pricing
- Develops conceptual estimates
- Prepares subcontractors bid list
- Leads and/or participates in bid day compilation
- Reviews plans and specifications
- Generates high-level value engineering/value management (VE/VM) log with accuracy
- Follows bid schedule and realigns deliverable dates with minimal impact using the Estimate Checklist
- Builds consensus on applied fee strategy
- Reviews subcontractor prequalification for prospective trade partners
- Drafts the first pass at General Conditions and General Requirements
- Sets up and reviews General Conditions and General Requirements with the Operations team
- Generates scope sheets for all CSI divisions
- Sets up and conducts GO/NO GO for Swinerton self-perform trades
- Supports and trains estimating staff
- Supports post-bid buyouts
- Completes other responsibilities as assigned
Requirements
- Engineering, Construction Management, or Architectural degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum 3 years of estimating or related experience
- Ability to read and understand specifications, drawings, and BIM models
- Ability to make accurate judgments and calculate associated risks
- Proficiency in estimating software such as Excel, Bluebeam, Revit, Destini, or other programs to complete daily duties
- Working knowledge of current construction costs and principles

$115,100.00 - $145,300.00 annual salary
