Job Roles and Responsibilities
- Prepare conceptual budgets, hard bid estimates, proposals, cost information, and project schedules.
- Review and interpret project blueprints, specifications, contracts, scope documents, and conceptual drawings.
- Develop and execute bid strategies for commercial construction projects.
- Manage the complete bid process from project inception through bid submission.
- Cook sub contractor bid solicitation and ensure adequate subcontractor coverage.
- Review vendor and subcontractor proposals for completeness, pricing, and scope.
- Conduct site visits and attend pre-bid meetings as required.
- Lead project turnover meetings by providing project teams with complete estimating documentation.
- Prepare project duration estimates, cost analyses, and budget reviews prior to submission.
- Develop subcontractor bid lists and maintain strong relationships with trade partners.
- Utilize computerized estimating systems and Microsoft Office to prepare competitive estimates.
- Collaborate with operations, accounting, project management, and other internal departments throughout the estimating process.
- Support construction teams during project execution with estimating-related information.
- Supervise estimating support staff and ensure timely completion of assigned work.
Qualifications and Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field preferred (relevant experience accepted in lieu of degree).
- Commercial construction estimating experience required.
- Experience estimating restaurants, schools, office buildings, retail, dealerships, multifamily, and ground-up commercial projects preferred.
- Strong blueprint, specification, and contract interpretation skills required.
- Experience managing the complete bid process required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office required.
- Experience with Timberline Estimating Software preferred.
- Excellent mathematical, analytical, organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States (no sponsorship available).
