Responsibilities
- Train and mentor new EP staff
- Contribute to the department’s continuous quality improvement efforts
- Absorb and monitor patient symptoms and changes in condition
- Assist physicians by scrubbing/assisting during diagnostic and interventional electrophysiology procedures
- Assist physicians during the insertion and removal of devices, such as pacemakers and implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs)
- React quickly and appropriately to emergency situations during procedures
- Communicate pre- and post-procedure education to patients and their families
- Provide hemodynamic monitoring assistance during electrophysiology procedures
- Prepare patients for examinations or treatments and assist as necessary
- Maintain and update knowledge of EP procedures, continuing education as needed to perform daily duties effectively
- Uphold the facility’s Standards of Performance and ICARE values
Qualifications
- Must have one of the following: Current certification as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), or must obtain this certification within one year of hire
- Current registration from an accredited School of Radiologic Technology and licensed through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) as a Registered Radiologic Technologist [RT(R)]
- Staff with 8 years of EP procedure experience may be considered but must complete advanced registration (RCIS or RCES from CCI) or obtain their Radiologic Technologist (ARRT-R) license within one year of hire
- Additional requirements: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required, Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Hearth Association required, Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, guests, physicians, and colleagues, Minimum of 1 year of experience in EP or Cardiac Cath Lab, Scrub Cardiac Cath, IR, and vascular procedures, STEMIs call rotation
