Lead Engineer, R&D Power Electronics
About the role
A Lead Engineer within our R&D organization, you will lead the design, development, and testing of cutting-edge systems and technologies for DER and power distribution applications. Your role will focus on shaping technological roadmaps for required systems, characterizing and benchmarking technologies and components, ensuring they meet size, efficiency, performance, cost, and specification requirements. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop a technology roadmap for energy, power distribution, and power conversion solutions targeting various markets. By acting as a company-wide subject matter expert, you will play a pivotal role in influencing the future of technology and product development within our organization.
Responsibilities
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, Chemical). Advanced degree in Engineering (Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical) or equivalent preferred.
- Experience: 8+ years of experience in system design, architecture, testing, or integration of various relevant energy technologies for microgrid, power generation, and energy storage.
- Strong understanding of renewable energy systems, including solar, wind, power conversion, and energy storage technologies.
- Experience with collaboration and application of modeling for system design.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong understanding of related regulatory frameworks and industry standards related to the relevant energy technologies: Microgrid, Power generation, and Energy storage (preferred).
- Knowledge of grid integration and energy management systems (preferred).
- Proven track record of leading successful projects in the renewable energy sector (preferred).
- Experience in performance modeling and simulation of microgrid power generation components, control systems, power conversion components with Matlab/Simulink, Simscape, Amesim or similar tools (preferred).
