Responsibilities
- Serves as the primary engineering liaison for large load data center customers, managing in-depth technical communications and translating complex technical details.
- Interprets, evaluates, and clearly explains complex engineering study results related to system stability, EMT (Electromagnetic Transients), protection, and power quality to internal stakeholders and external customers.
- Led the development and full-lifecycle compliance verification of the Technical Interconnection Requirements for Large Load (TIRLL).
- Led the internal Large Load Technical Standard Committee (LLTSC) and ensures the integration of NERC standards and industry best practices.
- Navigates complex regulatory and engineering frameworks, such as the large load interconnection process and queue management.
- Oversees external engineering consultants and manages ad-hoc engineering deliverables.
- Provides engineering/technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems of increasing scope and complexity in both inside as well as outside the scope of typical responsibility.
- Ensures accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities; decisions may affect the operations or results of the work group and may have some impact on major projects or department results.
- Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches related to defined problems and analysis of increasing scope and complexity.
- Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities.
- Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills.
- Maintains accurate records and files.
Qualifications
- Lead Engineer Graduation from a four-year college or university with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program. A Master's degree in engineering will be considered in lieu of the B. S. engineering degree.
- 8 years related work experience
- Registration as a Professional Engineer
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Engineering
- Expert-level understanding of engineering theories and principles related to large load integration, interconnection policies, and power distribution
- Extensive experience in electrical facility designs or conducting detailed technical reviews of complex customer facility designs and equipment specifications
- Experience navigating Interconnection Process, Queue Management, and NERC standards
- Demonstrated leadership in managing external engineering consultants and leading technical standard committees
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly present complex engineering concepts to diverse internal and external audiences (internal teams, customers, regulators)
