Lead Engineer
About the role
The Lead Building Engineer position is integral to the Transwestern Real Estate Services (TRS) team, focusing on the maintenance and repair of buildings, industrial systems, equipment, and grounds. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of various building systems and a commitment to maintaining high standards of operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Review and assign tasks from daily work orders.
- Monitor repeat issues and suggest corrective actions.
- Oversee and inspect the work of engineering staff.
- Determine that all work is completed, equipment is fully functional, and spaces are in optimal condition.
- Develop and implement a preventive maintenance plan to ensure building machinery and systems meet or exceed their rated life.
- Inspect building systems including fire alarms, HVAC, and plumbing to ensure proper operation and adherence to design specifications.
- Estimate time and materials needed for repairs and prepare work orders.
- Maintain inventory of supplies and tools and order necessary materials.
- Consult with the Chief Engineer or Property Manager and clients to schedule preventive maintenance and other downtime.
- Perform assigned repairs, emergency, and preventive maintenance tasks.
- Complete maintenance and repair records as required.
- Respond quickly to emergencies, summoning additional assistance if necessary.
- Maintain an energy management program to ensure systems operate efficiently and minimize operating costs.
- Ensure personal and team safety.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED, and at least two years of related experience or trade school training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A minimum of five years of building maintenance experience.
- Appropriate licenses/permits for trades as required, such as Journeyman or Master Electrician License, or city licenses like Refrigeration Certificate of Fitness, High Pressure Boiler License, High Pressure Steam Operator, etc.
- Knowledgeable in energy management systems, techniques, and operations.
- Thorough knowledge of building systems operations, maintenance, and repair.
- Basic skills with Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Effective communication and customer service orientation.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform stooping, standing, and climbing.
- May require shift work and on-call duties.
Pay
$85,000.00 - $92,000.00 USD Annual
