Lead Electrician

About the role

Helix Electric, Inc. is one of the most successful open-shop electrical contracting companies in the nation, with expertise in virtually every field of electrical construction—design/build services, industrial, commercial, mixed-use/multi-family developments, government, institutional, communications, and utilities projects. The successful candidate will join a production-driven team performing electrical installations and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a crew of 2-15 electricians.
• Assemble, install, maintain, and test electrical equipment and wiring systems in commercial settings.
• Prepare work areas for installation of equipment.
• Install electrical components and connect wiring and equipment as per code and job specifications.
• Operate equipment only if trained and certified (e.g., powder-activated tools, JLG lifts).
• Set up and operate tools such as hydraulic benders, power threaders, power pullers, and cable vacuum systems.
• Read blueprints and electrical drawings to install systems as specified.
• Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances per drawings or plans.
• Secure and lock up equipment after use.

Requirements

• State Journeyman Electrician Certification (required in states where mandated or highly desirable elsewhere).
• Proven experience as a lead electrician with a track record of delivering safe projects on schedule and within budget.
• Excellent working knowledge of Building Codes.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Physical Demands

• Work in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow.
• Wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves always; respirator when required).
• Able to work 8-10 hours per day, 40 hours per week, with overtime and night shifts as required.
• Perform essential job functions such as crawling, standing, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, sitting, and reaching.
• Routinely lift heavy objects in excess of 50 pounds and push/pull objects.
• Repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers.
• Physical work constitutes more than 70% of the job.

Pay

The starting hourly base pay for this role is between USD $40.00 and $50.00 per hour, dependent on factors such as location, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. The role may also be eligible for bonus and benefits.
