Lead Electrical System Design & Analysis Engineer

About the role

Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for a Lead Electrical Systems Design & Analysis Engineer on the Advanced E-7 Program in Tukwila, WA. As part of the Electrical Power System Engineering team, you will develop electrical power designs for both the aircraft primary power system (Electrical Power Generation System, EPGS) and the secondary power system (Secondary Power Distribution System, SPDS). This role involves collaboration with suppliers, the program wiring team, and support for lab testing, aircraft build, flight testing, and operational support. The E-7 is the world’s most advanced Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) platform, designed to track multiple airborne and maritime targets simultaneously while providing situational awareness and directing other assets.

Responsibilities

• Develop and document complex electronic and electrical system requirements for EPGS and SPDS components and software.
• Lead and coordinate work to analyze and translate requirements into system architecture, hardware designs, and interface specifications.
• Lead work to test and validate that system designs meet operational and functional requirements.
• Oversee the team that monitors supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements in the development and production of EPGS and SPDS components and software.
• Solve problems concerning and provide support for fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle.
• Troubleshoot Advanced E-7 EPGS and SPDS.
• Author and update Specification Control Drawings (SCDs), Interface Design Descriptions (IDDs), and Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
• Compile and review certification documents to demonstrate compliance with FAA airworthiness requirements, including Electrical Load Analysis (ELA) documents.
• Design and draft Functional Schematics of the power system.
• Develop and maintain relationships with teammates, peers, and supplier counterparts.
• Report progress and elevate issues to management as required.
• Support FAA Certification activities as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or non-U.S. equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.
• 9+ years of experience in Electrical engineering.
• Experience compiling ELA, ICD, and System Definition Document (SDD).
• Experience with Functional Schematic Drafting & Design.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with aircraft electrical systems design.
• Experience with aircraft power systems.
• Experience with troubleshooting aircraft electrical systems.
• Strong organization and communication skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Office products.
• Experience with FAA certification procedures for Part 25 regulations.

Additional Information

This position is expected to be 100% onsite in Tukwila, WA. The selected candidate must satisfy the Company’s Conflict of Interest (COI) assessment process and meet U.S. export control compliance requirements as a "U.S. Person" (U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee). This role requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance, for which U.S. Citizenship is required. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance post-start is required. Relocation assistance is available based on candidate eligibility. This position is for 1st shift and does not offer visa sponsorship.

Pay

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. Summary pay range for Lead Level: $146,200 – $197,800.
