Lead Electrical Superintendent

About the Role

This is a field-based position that works closely with the Project Management team to assist in managing the assigned electrical scope for the project. You will help ensure the project is constructed in accordance with the owner’s contract, working closely with the Construction Manager, Site Quality Manager, Owners, Subcontractors, and Project Management Team.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor the team of electrical superintendents.
• Supervise and coordinate the activities of the electrical superintendents to ensure electrical subcontractors adhere to the project schedule.
• Identify inefficiencies and risks to the schedule and implement solutions.
• Track and communicate progress of electrical subcontractors to the project team and owner through daily reports, progress updates, and meetings.
• Review engineering drawings and ensure plant construction complies with the approved design.
• Work with the project team to review requests for clarification or deviation from the drawings.
• Coordinate delivery, receipt, and tracking of materials from electrical vendors, anticipating and resolving potential delays.
• Promote a strong, relationship-based safety culture with all subcontractors.
• Evaluate and sign off on excavation, hot work, and other permits to ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Review electrical subcontractor JSA/JHA’s prior to work commencement.
• Review and supervise procedures for installation, testing, LOTO, and energization of electrical equipment.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of basic electrical theory and practices, including NEC standards.
• Experience with means and methods of electrical activities (cable trenching, equipment installation, terminations, testing).
• Understanding of electrical equipment function and composition (transformers, circuit breakers, switches, cable, junction boxes, inverters).
• Ability to interpret construction drawings (physical layouts, electrical diagrams) and identify discrepancies.
• Ability to understand and execute a construction schedule, including critical path activities.
• Knowledge of safety standards (OSHA) and best practices, with a focus on electrical safety (arc flash, LOTO).

Education and Experience

• High School diploma required.
• Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent experience.
