Lead Electrical & Instrumentation superintendent
Relocation authorized: national (accompanied). Telework type: full-time office/project work. Location: Lake Charles, LA.
About the Project
Louisiana LNG is located approximately 11 miles southwest of Lake Charles, Louisiana. The project includes a mid-scale, mixed-refrigerant Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) production and export facility on the west side of the Calcasieu River. There are five identical process plants, each consisting of one gas pre-treatment unit, one condensate stabilization unit, and four Chart heavy hydrocarbon (HHC) removal and liquefaction groups. The facility will include associated utilities, refrigerant storage, three 235,000m³ full-containment LNG storage tanks, and three marine berths.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team and supervise superintendents and/or craft professionals on a project.
- Direct craft professional activities and work schedules, and coordinate subcontract work activities and team development.
- Ensure craft professionals have the tools required to be productive, comply with project policies, procedures, and job site work rules, and perform within specifications, schedules, and budgets.
- Leadership / Supervision:
- Supervise and direct craft activities, subordinate superintendents, and others, as assigned (supporting 50 to 100 craft or responsible for area/facility).
- Schedule work to be performed and review work accomplished by each craft (direct hire).
- Planning / Productivity:
- Determine workforce requirements.
- Coordinate established area operational plans.
- Tools, Materials & Equipment:
- Oversee tool and equipment usage on the site.
- Manage the preparation of Field Material Requisitions for tools and consumables.
- Ensure craft professionals have the tools they require to be productive.
- Safety & Quality:
- Ensure the most current design document is used to complete the work and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation.
- Ensure assigned construction operations and subcontractors’ performance are in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budgets.
- Technical:
- Work with Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals in interpreting engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documents.
- Manage engineering solutions with subcontractors, and Foremen and Craft Professionals.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience.
- Knowledge of a single or multi-discipline construction or engineering operation.
- Knowledge of the Project ES&H Handbook, the Supervisors ES&H Manual, the Project Safety Management Plan, the Bechtel Core Processes, and Zero Accident Philosophy.
- Knowledge of the Six Sigma program tools and methodologies.
- Knowledge of supervisory functions relating to field activities.
- Knowledge of Standard Work Process Procedures (SWPPs).
- Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications in accordance with current Bechtel Standard Application Program (BSAP) standards.
- Demonstrated leadership in a team-based environment.
- Knowledge of the use of subcontracts, and the contractor and subcontractor’s responsibilities contained in subcontract documents.
- Experience working with supervising and administering subcontractors and/or direct hire workforce.
Working Conditions
- Work requires the physical ability to conduct field inspections, including but not limited to:
- Extensive walking in and around a construction site, often in high heat and high humidity conditions.
- Climbing ladders, scaffolding, and working on elevated platforms.
- Working on uneven surfaces and in small or confined spaces.
- Some lifting may be required.
- Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress).
- Must be able to use appropriate standard-issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (e.g., harness, life vest, lift buckets).
