Lead Electrical Engineering
About the role
WSP is seeking a Lead Consultant, Electrical Engineer for its New York City, NY team. This role involves working on projects with the Properties & Buildings Team and contributing to a growing organization that addresses client objectives and solves their challenges. As a global leader in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering, WSP collaborates with architects and owners worldwide on large, complex projects focusing on sustainability and energy efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Prepare basic deliverables and products including calculations, drawings, and specifications
- Oversee all aspects of projects
- Set deadlines and assign responsibilities
- Examine field conditions as required to support project development and completion
- Design building electrical systems including power, lighting, communication, security systems, and fire alarm systems while adhering to the firm’s QA/QC process
- Attend meetings with architects, owners, and building managers to discuss future and/or current projects
- Responsible for meeting the client’s project goals and objectives
- Aid in business development by pursuing new work, including participation in client presentations
- Aid in the firm’s human resource efforts through training and mentoring junior firm members
- Enhance the firm’s reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing internal and external client requests
- Update job knowledge and technical expertise by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, participating in technical organizations, and obtaining certifications in area of expertise
- Participate in the firm’s Technical Committee as requested
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
- 7 to 10 years of relevant post-education experience as an electrical engineer providing design deliverables for large capital projects
- Knowledge of both low voltage and medium voltage electrical systems design and construction
- Comprehensive knowledge and interpretation of code compliance requirements and industry standards
- Strong organizational, prioritization, decision-making, and analytical skills
- Experience in construction administration and technical field assistance
- Possess strong verbal, written, analytical, persuasive, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and in a highly collaborative team environment
- Ability to consistently set goals and meet deadlines and adapt to flexible responsibilities
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit software
- Working understanding of SKM and ETAP electrical studies software
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
- Experience with Horizon or Project Resource Management software is preferred

- PE license
- LEED Certification
- Certifications in areas of expertise
