About the role
The Lead Electrical Engineer position is part of the Power Division at Westwood Professional Services, Inc. The role involves designing Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), managing electrical engineering projects, and leading a team of electrical designers.
Responsibilities
- Manage the electrical engineering of commercial and utility-scale BESS projects.
- Ensure project deliverables are completed on time and within budget.
- Coordinate with other project disciplines including civil, structural, and surveying engineers.
- Oversee electrical team resources and perform calculations like short circuit analysis, load flow studies, grounding design, and voltage drop calculations.
- Collaborate with clients, utilities, and code enforcement authorities.
- Perform quality assurance and quality control reviews of design work.
- Support construction activities by responding to contractor and owner requests.
- Supervise and mentor junior engineers and technicians.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
- Knowledge of NEC, NESC, and utility interconnection requirements.
- Proficiency with electrical power system modeling software.
- Approximately 4–10 years of experience in electrical engineering design.
- Experience preparing proposals, managing project budgets, and coordinating with stakeholders.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
Skills
- Microsoft Office products.
- AutoCAD in a limited capacity.
