About the Company
Our client is a growing engineering consulting and EPCM (Engineering, Procurement & Construction Management) firm supporting industrial and power generation projects across North America. Due to continued growth and project demand, they are seeking an experienced Lead Electrical Engineer to join their team.
The Opportunity
As a Lead Electrical Engineer, you will support projects ranging from facility upgrades and brownfield modifications to large-scale EPC projects within the power generation and industrial sectors. This role offers technical leadership responsibility and involvement throughout the project lifecycle, from concept through commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and review PSCAD and ETAP studies supporting utility-scale power generation, renewable energy, battery energy storage (BESS), and industrial power projects.
- Develop technical recommendations based on transient overvoltage, insulation coordination, system stability, and protection studies.
- Perform and review electromagnetic transient studies, switching surge analysis, and insulation coordination for medium and high-voltage systems.
- Utilize ETAP for load flow, short-circuit, relay coordination, transient stability, arc flash, and cable ampacity studies.
- Support generator interconnections, substations, and industrial power distribution systems.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, utility requirements, and engineering best practices.
- Provide technical leadership throughout engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.
- Collaborate directly with client engineering and maintenance teams.
- Support field activities and periodic site visits as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
- 15+ years of electrical engineering experience within industrial, power generation, consulting engineering, EPC, or design-build environments.
- Strong experience with power system studies and analysis.
- Proficiency with PSCAD and ETAP software.
- Experience with medium and high-voltage electrical distribution systems.
- Working knowledge of NEC, ANSI, NEMA, NFPA, IEEE, and IEC standards.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, budgets, and deadlines.
- Strong communication and client-facing skills.
- PE License preferred; EIT with ability to obtain PE also considered.
