Lead Electrical Designer
Description
The Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) Staff Engineering Technician position with Black & Veatch requires onsite presence at various locations including Overland Park, Ann Arbor, Houston, Phoenix, Raleigh, Chattanooga, Chicago, Jacksonville, and Gaithersburg. This role collaborates with multidisciplinary project teams within the Power Providers Market Sector, focusing on advanced power generation projects and infrastructure development.
Responsibilities
- Solves complex design challenges within the power generation engineering discipline
- Develops and modifies technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables using advanced design tools like Bentley MicroStation
- Ensures technical quality, adheres to schedules, and maintains budgets
- Coordinates and guides conceptual and detailed design activities across departments and teams
- Supervises engineering technicians and support staff

Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with AGI32 for lighting design (preferred)
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering Design-related technology (preferred)
- Minimum 15 years of related work experience in power generation design
- Experience with 3D modeling of equipment, duct bank design, cable tray design, grounding, and lighting
Job Summary
This is a permanent position based in Leawood, KS. The pay range for this role is $120,000 - $160,000 annually. Benefits include PTO, paid holidays, medical, dental, vision, and more. The position is a hybrid role in Leawood, KS.
