JOB REQUIREMENTS
The Lead Economic Support Specialist processes public assistance cases completely, accurately, and timely in accordance with both state and federal policies. This role trains, assists, and mentors co-workers in case processing and helps to interpret certain policies. The Lead Economic Support Specialist also answers questions or concerns that a client may have on a case and completes intake interviews and eligibility reviews.
- Serve as New Worker/Refresher Training Coordinator
- Named as Kenosha County Agency Training Liaison (DHS Training)
- Ensure cases are processed, opened, and closed timely and correctly
- Answer computer, eligibility, and policy questions from coworkers
- Answer call center calls and complete interviews with clients
- Process verifications and documents
- Mentor and train new employees
- Perform Quality Control (QC) on cases to assure accuracy of program eligibility
- Review and discuss processes and task assignments for new employees
- Intake and process new applications for benefits
- Enter application information into CARES Worker Web and determine what verifications are needed
- Interview customers who need benefit renewals; review and update all customer case information
- Update cases with date paid and payment type
- Work on daily task assignments which include team alerts, online renewals, online change reports, team emails, paper mail, and online documents
- Conduct dashboard monitoring and processing daily
- Complete state reports and attend local and state meetings as needed
- Collaborate with other leads in the Wisconsin Kenosha Racine Partnership Income Maintenance consortium and partner agency trainer
- Provide feedback to WKRP management
- Provide feedback regarding staff performance and assist in determining training needs
- Serve as Security Officer for Kenosha County
- Perform other work as required or assigned
OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience 3 years or more of Economic Support Specialist
- Some Experience in Training or Providing mentorship to staff preferred
- Knowledge of: CARES Worker Web, Forward Health, and Host on Demand
- Electronic case file, KIDS information data system, Data exchange, Department of Health Services and Department of Children and Families training
- Webs Intelligence, Web Access Management System, Income Maintenance training, and client scheduling system
- Local policies and procedures
- Office software programs and state computer systems
- Skills in: Organization and time management, Mathematics, Decision-making, Customer service and communication, Verbal and written communication, Microsoft Excel and Word, Coaching and training
- Ability to: Multitask, Be adaptable, Display good judgement and professionalism at all times, Work well in a team, Work effectively with people of various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, Adhere to strict confidentiality and computer security guidelines, Perform audits of case records and report outcomes to management, Manage changing duties and assignments, Communicate effectively with partner agencies, Work respectfully in a diverse and inclusive environment
