The Opportunity

Ulteig is seeking a Lead Engineer to support utility-scale solar, wind, and battery projects. The role involves engaging with Ulteig’s design teams and clients to provide innovative design solutions during the development phase of renewable facility projects.

What You'll Do

  • Support multiple projects in various stages from proposal to delivery, maintaining schedules with other disciplines and fostering positive client relationships.
  • Provide expert-level knowledge of solar photovoltaic (PV) electrical design, including string sizing, cable sizing, ampacity, 1500V DC, 34.5kV MV, and NEC requirements.
  • Develop packages such as solar array layouts, electrical one-lines, collection systems, and equipment installation details for utility-scale PV systems (50-500MW+).
  • Contribute to the development of internal solar engineering standards, toolsets, and work processes.
  • Create detailed plans, reports, and documentation that adhere to sound engineering practices.
  • Guide engineering technicians and design engineers, and collaborate with clients to develop feasible solutions that meet project goals.
  • Review and validate design and computations performed by internal design teams, providing feedback to improve design quality.
  • Assess development plans and specifications for constructability, safety, and risk considerations.
  • Work closely with marketing, sales, and business development teams to understand client needs and deliver tailored solutions.
  • Lead site visits to gather data and identify critical issues for design purposes.

What We Expect From You

  • A Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program or equivalent.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration, or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire, with an NCEES Council Record preferred.
  • A minimum of 8-10 years of engineering experience, with at least 5 years in design and development of utility-scale solar or batteries, and experience in "engineer of record" (EOR) of construction utility-scale renewables.
  • Stormwater management and permitting experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and working knowledge of AutoCAD or Civil 3D.
  • Proficiency and working knowledge of PVFarm, SAM, GIS/ESRI, PVProspect, or similar industry software.
  • Permanent authorization to work in the United States.

Additional Information

Target Base Compensation Range: $111,200 - $150,400*

Factors affecting actual salary include job-specific skills, education, training, job location, years of experience related to this role, and comparison to other employees in the same role.

This position will remain open for a minimum of 3 days and up to 60 days until a qualified applicant is selected or the position is cancelled.
