About the role

The Lead Developer is a member of the application development team, responsible for designing and developing technical solutions in support of the Bank’s business needs. Using a continuous improvement mindset, this role helps establish necessary development practices using agile principles and serves as a technical leader on projects while mentoring other team members.

Responsibilities

  • Develop well-written, efficient code in Java for various applications.
  • Review other developers' code and provide constructive feedback.
  • Support existing applications and projects by responding to incidents, problems, and service requests.
  • Maintain a continuous improvement mindset regarding methodologies, procedures, and technologies.
  • Mentor and support other developers in the design and construction of software solutions.
  • Work directly with business partners to ensure solution requirements and quality are addressed in the development cycle.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure solutions are well communicated and documented.
  • Act as the technical lead on application development initiatives.
  • Gain a strong understanding of the product line you are assigned to support.
  • Unit test completed software thoroughly to ensure functionality and performance.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) in technologies and overall applications knowledge for both IT and business areas.
  • Recommend patches and fixes for broken code.
  • Provide application analysis and support for vendor-developed applications.
  • Ensure software designs and development efforts are implemented consistently, on-time, and within budget constraints with limited revisions.
  • Understand internal controls and regulatory requirements as they relate to the financial industry.
  • Multitask and work on multiple development initiatives simultaneously.
  • Create full-stack software solutions to business problems.
  • Leverage Artificial Intelligence to improve development efficiency and solution quality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a relevant field and 7+ years of experience, or 10+ years of equivalent work experience.
  • Experience developing software using technologies such as Java, SQL, HTML, CSS, Angular, Bootstrap, TypeScript, and Node.
  • Experience with Java 8 or beyond and open-source frameworks (e.g., Spring Ecosystem, Hibernate, jUnit).
  • Deep understanding of object-oriented design principles and patterns, application architecture, test-driven development, and the software development lifecycle.
  • Experience with automated test, build, and integration techniques.
  • Experience leading development projects using automation associated with continuous integration, deployment, and release management.
  • Experience with development methodologies and principles including Agile, Scrum, and waterfall.
  • Experience with data-driven design and development principles (e.g., integrations, APIs).
  • Experience with infrastructure automation tools such as GitLab.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills that promote effective working relationships in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of users (internal and external), strong problem-solving skills, adaptability, proactivity, and willingness to take ownership.
  • Self-motivation and a strong desire to learn.
  • Financial services industry experience preferred but not required.

Pay

Annual salary range: $102,208 – $121,372. This range represents the Bank’s good faith and reasonable estimate of possible compensation at the time of hire. The offer will be determined by the selected applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. This role is also eligible to participate in the Bank’s annual incentive plan.
