Lead Dental Assistant

About the role

This position involves performing various dental procedures under the supervision of a dentist. Duties include mouth mirror inspections, gathering diagnostic information, charting existing restorations, and assisting with a wide range of dental treatments.

Responsibilities

• Performs mouth mirror inspection of the oral cavity and gathers diagnostic information.
• Charts existing restoration and conditions.
• Selects shades for fixed and removable prostheses.
• Selects and uses appropriate instruments and materials for various dental procedures.
• Assists with oral surgery, endodontics, periodontics, prosthodontics, implant placement and restoration.
• Maintains dental equipment according to manufacturer’s instructions and service standards.
• Monitors patient vital signs and condition during invasive treatment and recovery.
• Provides patient-specific education and oral hygiene instruction.
• Assists in filling gaps in the dentist's schedule.
• Completes computerized progress notes and assists in charting findings and treatment plans.
• Ensures proper infection control and sterilization of instruments.
• Communicates patient concerns to the dentist.
• Administers topical anesthesia and takes impressions for diagnostic casts and prosthetic fabrication.

Requirements

The ideal candidate possesses advanced knowledge of dental instruments, materials, and procedures, and is proficient in English. They must also pass a background/security investigation and be proficient in written and spoken English.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Citizen of the United States.
• At least 1 year of experience at the next lower grade level that demonstrates the core competencies described at that level.
• Successfully completed a 1-year dental assistant program accredited by the American Dental Association's Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).
• Or equivalent combination of experience and education.
• Successfully completed the Dental Radiation Health and Safety Examination administered by the Dental Assisting National Board, Inc., or Principles and Practice of Dental Radiology and Radiographic Safety courses and examinations developed by the Assistant Under Secretary for Health for Dentistry, or a radiation health and safety program or examination approved by a state board of dentistry or the Department of Defense (DoD).
• Hold certification in basic life support methods.
• Be proficient in written and spoken English.

7:00 AM to 5:30 PM Monday through Friday (4 Days total)
