Pay
- New hire (entry level): $20.62/hr
- After 6 months: $22.35/hr
- Current employees with seniority in the bargaining unit: refer to the salary schedule established by the bargaining unit
Schedule
- 8 hours/day, district-wide rover position
- Start/end times will vary
- Day shift during winter, spring, and summer breaks
- May work night or day shift
- Must work during days in summer months
Responsibilities
- Varies depending on schedule covered (Starter/Closer/Utility Lead)
- Trash removal
- Vacuums all areas—hard and soft surfaces
- Clean and sanitize desk/table tops, door handles, restroom fixtures
- Cleans glass
- Dusts horizontal surfaces, clocks, overhead screens, blinds
- Cleaning of large gang restrooms
- Assists with deep cleaning during break periods: stripping, scrubbing, recoating, carpet extraction, cleaning restrooms, glass, and furniture
- Removes snow
- Minor grounds keeping and lawn mowing
- Assists with delivery of supplies
- Properly maintains equipment
- Operates all energy-consuming devices efficiently to maximize energy conservation
- Monitors HVAC systems and reports problems to maintenance via work order system
- Makes minor repairs to equipment, building furniture, hardware, windows, etc.
- Reports major repair problems to head custodian and maintenance (via work order system)
- Responsible for closing and securing building
- Works with and directs within established routine custodians on 2nd shift and during break periods as assigned by head custodian
- Monitors performance of custodians during their assigned shift; discusses performance issues with head custodian or supervisor
- May fill in for the head custodian as necessary
- Must treat fellow workers with respect and facilitate a non-hostile work environment
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Must meet all general qualifications listed in the "lead custodian" job description for Davenport Community School District
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to direct others to successfully complete assigned tasks
- Thorough knowledge of all cleaning procedures, chemicals, and equipment
- Ability to learn how to operate a computer, use email, open attachments, and complete electronic work orders
Physical Requirements
- Physical ability to lift and carry 56 lbs
- Physical ability to climb an eight-foot ladder and perform custodial tasks
