Lead Custodian

About the Role

The Sisters of St. Joseph are seeking a Facilities Supervisor to oversee the CSJ Convent facility operations, ensuring a safe and well-maintained environment for the Sisters and staff. This role involves managing housekeeping and custodial staff, coordinating maintenance and repairs, and maintaining compliance with safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Track and manage facility service requests, ensuring timely completion.
• Conduct regular building inspections to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns.
• Monitor remodeling or repair projects for safety compliance.
• Supervise housekeeping and custodial staff, including scheduling, training, and performance management.
• Respond to maintenance requests from Sisters and staff.
• Coordinate larger repairs with outside vendors.
• Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies, paper goods, and repair materials.
• Purchase replacement supplies and equipment as needed.
• Maintain facility contracts and records.
• Assist with event preparation and facility needs during special events.
• Ensure organized storage areas, including attic, basement, and supply rooms.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Degree or certification in facilities management, building operations, or related field preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of facilities or building management experience.
• Supervisory experience managing custodial or housekeeping staff.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Willingness to be on-call for building emergencies.
• Strong attendance and punctuality.

Work Environment

This role operates in both an indoor assisted living environment and an outdoor environment, subject to seasonal conditions. Regular use of cleaning and maintenance tools is required.

Physical Demands

The position involves frequent lifting up to 50 pounds, standing, kneeling, bending, and using hands and arms for various tasks. Specific vision abilities are required for close-range activities and focus adjustment.
