Lead Custodian

About the role

Koniag Professional Services (KPS), a Koniag Government Services company, is hiring a Lead Custodian. This is a union position. All benefits will be provided by the CBA.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, coordinate, and assign tasks to custodial staff.
• Provide guidance and training to team members.
• Assist in hiring and onboarding new team members.
• Oversee routine cleaning (vacuuming, dusting, trash removal, etc.).
• Manage specialized cleaning projects.
• Inspect work to ensure quality standards.
• Develop cleaning schedules and procedures.
• Order and maintain cleaning supplies/equipment.
• Act as point of contact between staff and management.
• Liaise between custodial staff and other departments.
• Ensure adherence to federal facility cleaning protocols and regulations.
• Handle complex cleaning tasks.
• Assist with setup/cleanup for special events.
• Report maintenance issues or safety hazards.
• Lead team in cleaning load balance for compliant results.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizen
• High School Diploma or GED (prefer high school diploma)
• Experience in managing custodial care projects
• Able to lift 50 lbs
• Custodial, carpet, and floor care experience
• Mandatory: Advanced Custodial Technical Certification from the Cleaning Management Institute (CMI)

Skills

• Capable of performing heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, and washing walls
• Clear written and verbal communication skills
• Dependable, hardworking, conscientious, cooperative, and able to work independently
