Custodial Services
- Responsible for cleaning building property in a timely and efficient manner, preparing the facility for academic and general use.
- Knowledge of all custodial chemicals and procedures, including ordering and maintaining an adequate inventory of these supplies.
- Day to day building operation, activities setups, and building security.
- Enters and processes work orders through the district's work order system in the areas of custodial operations and general maintenance for the facility and grounds.
- Mowing and trimming, litter control of grounds, and maintaining grounds equipment.
- Removes ice and snow from sidewalks, including the application of ice melt and road sand using snowblowers and sanders; snow removal duties include overnight and extended shifts.
Custodial Lead Responsibilities
- Instructs and oversees custodians on activities and cleaning areas, including scheduling of custodians and workloads, and makes quality control inspections of assigned areas.
- Communicates regularly with the building administration on building activities.
- Schedules and assigns work to the building custodial staff.
- Conducts building cleanliness checks and communicates employee performance issues to the Custodial Supervisor.
- Assists in writing employee performance evaluations.
- Knowledge of all district and departmental policies and procedures, including the building asbestos survey, SDS material, the building hazard communication program, fire extinguishers, and AEDs.
General Maintenance
- Maintains and, with the Mechanical and Trades Specialist, makes minor repairs to custodial and grounds equipment.
- Oversees any winterizing and subsequent reopening of any site facilities where this is necessary.
Department Support
- Substitutes for other district custodial employees when needed.
- Participates in general staff meetings.
- Participates in all mandatory training appropriate to the position as required by the district.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- One year of experience in building maintenance or custodial/grounds work.
- Ability to operate a personal computer including the use of a database, spreadsheet, word processor, email and online resources.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety and procedure manuals.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with Google Docs.
- Experience working preventative maintenance system software.
- One year of experience supervising personnel.
- Experience writing routine reports and correspondence.
Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to feel objects, controls, equipment, and to talk and hear.
- The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
- The employee must frequently squat, stoop or kneel, reach above the head and reach forward.
- The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp tools and climb ladders.
- The employee will frequently bend and twist at the neck and torso while performing job duties.
- The employee must frequently lift or move items weighing up to 50 lbs.
- The employee will occasionally lift or move items up to 100 lbs.
- The employee will occasionally work at a height of up to 50 ft.
- The employee will sometimes push or pull items such as custodial equipment, furniture, bleachers, and portable staging.
- The employee will regularly work indoors and outdoors.
- The noise level in the workplace is usually moderate to loud.
