Lead Custodian

Duties & Responsibilities

• Lead trash removal
• Inspect and organize other employees' work assignments at night
• Clean glass
• Dust horizontal surfaces, clocks, overhead screens, blinds
• Cleans carpets and hard flooring
• Assist with deep cleaning during break periods - strips, scrubs & recoats. Carpet extraction, cleans restrooms, glass and furniture
• Remove snow / cut grass / minor grounds keeping
• Assist with delivery of supplies
• Properly use and maintain equipment per owner's manual and or direction from maintenance staff
• Operates all energy consuming devices in the most efficient manner striving to attain maximum energy conservation
• Makes minor repairs to equipment, building, furniture, hardware, windows etc.
• Reports major repair problems to head custodian and maintenance department
• Responsible for closing and securing building
• Establishes and maintains a satisfactory working relationship with teachers, students and fellow employees
• Treats fellow workers with respect and facilitates a non-hostile work environment
• Performs other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements of Position

• Have physical ability to lift and carry 56 lbs.
• Have the physical ability to climb an eight-foot ladder and perform custodial tasks

Special Qualification Desired

• Must have high school degree or GED
• Must be able to direct others to the successful completion of assigned tasks
• Thorough knowledge of all cleaning procedures, chemicals & equipment
• One year custodial experience
• Passed district Lead / HVAC class test
• Ability to learn how to operate a computer, use email, open attachments and complete electronic work orders
