Summary

Under the general supervision of the CT Scan Manager, performs CT Scan procedures in a satellite unit or a unit requiring the use of more difficult techniques. Instructs Radiology students and employees in clinical procedures. Performs clerical and administrative tasks. Works with age-specific needs of geriatric, adult, and pediatric patients.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes experienced-based knowledge to perform CT Scan procedures in routine and complex radiologic procedures.
  • Provides clinical experience for Radiology Technology students, instructing and guiding them through procedures.
  • Trains employees in clinical procedures in the area of responsibility.
  • Performs clerical tasks such as inventory and ordering of supplies, compiling statistics, and checking equipment for proper operating condition.
  • Directs the work of others in assigning, coordinating, and reviewing their work.
  • Maintains CT Scan department workflow and staff efficiency for maximum throughput.
  • Remains proficient in special procedures, including biopsies, drainage, and ablations.

Qualifications

  • BASIC KNOWLEDGE:
    • Completion of an accredited program in Computed Tomography.
    • Registered and in good standing with the American Registry of Radiological Technology (ARRT).
    • CPR certification from AHA, BLS for Healthcare Providers.
    • Radiation license and CT supplemental license from the DOH.
    • Ability to operate various x-ray and CT Scan equipment.
    • Knowledge of determining acceptable diagnostic quality of radiographs.
    • Interpersonal and analytical skills for effective communication and patient care.
    • Demonstrated knowledge and skills for care of patients considering aging processes, human development stages, and cultural patterns.
  • EXPERIENCE:
    • One year experience as a Radiologic Technologist in a hospital radiology department.
    • One year specialized training in the operation of the Computed Tomography Scanner.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

  • Works in the CT Scan area or a smaller satellite operation.
  • Exposure to radiation, but minimal risk when safety procedures are followed.
  • Continuous standing, walking, pushing portable equipment, lifting, and positioning of patients.
  • Some exposure to odors from human waste and chemicals from automatic film processing equipment.
Pay Range: $45.80-$75.58 Location: Rhode Island Hospital - 593 Eddy Street Providence, Rhode Island 02903 Work Type: 12 hour shifts 7p-730a every other weekend Work Shift: Night Daily Hours: 8 hours Driving Required: No
