Lead Crater

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Aid the Master Crater in preparing, packing, crating, and securing products for shipment.
• Build standard crates, pallets, skids, and protective packaging using approved materials and methods.
• Prepare products by wrapping, blocking, bracing, cushioning, and securing them for safe transportation.
• Read and verify shipping paperwork, labels, part numbers, quantities, and special handling instructions.
• Organize daily work assignments and guide Craters or warehouse associates as directed by the Master Crater or management.
• Inspect completed work for proper construction, protection, labeling, and shipment readiness.
• Safely operate hand tools, power tools, forklifts, and other approved warehouse equipment.
• Maintain adequate supplies of lumber, fasteners, packing materials, and tools; notify the Master Crater or management of shortages.
• Keep the crating area clean, organized, and compliant with all safety requirements.
• Assist with loading, unloading, receiving, inventory, and other warehouse duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience in crating, packaging, carpentry, warehouse operations, shipping, or a related role preferred.
• Ability to read a tape measure and complete basic measurements and calculations accurately.
• Familiarity with hand and power tools.
• Forklift experience or willingness to obtain forklift certification.
• Ability to follow direction, work independently, and help train or guide other team members.
• Strong attention to detail, dependability, and commitment to safe work practices.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach throughout the workday.
• Ability to regularly lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds and, with assistance or equipment, heavier items as needed.
• Ability to work in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures, noise levels, and dust.
