Lead Coordinator for the High School Equivalency Program
Position Summary
The Educational Outreach Coordinator plays a vital role in advancing the mission of the High School Equivalency Program (HEP) by planning, coordinating, and implementing effective outreach and recruitment initiatives. This position focuses on identifying, engaging, and enrolling eligible participants while building strong partnerships with schools, community organizations, and agencies that serve farmworker and underrepresented populations. The ideal candidate is a passionate advocate for educational access, highly organized, and skilled at connecting with diverse communities.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Lead outreach activities to identify, recruit, and enroll eligible participants into the HEP program.
- Develop and implement innovative recruitment strategies utilizing digital media, radio, print materials, and community-based events in English and Spanish.
- Maintain and update the program’s webpage to ensure accurate, current, and accessible information for prospective participants and community partners.
- Establish and maintain partnerships with youth-serving organizations, community agencies, and educational institutions to expand program reach.
- Collaborate with university departments and farmworker-serving programs to support program initiatives and enhance participant services.
- Conduct presentations and informational sessions for referral partners, schools, and community groups in English and Spanish.
- Ensure accurate and accessible program information is provided to underrepresented populations.
- Oversee the participant recruitment and selection process in accordance with program guidelines.
- Complete and maintain accurate admission records and participant files in compliance with program policies and federal requirements.
- Prepare and submit recruitment, statistical, and assessment reports.
- Manage and supervise the student records system to ensure data accuracy and compliance.
- Absorb and prepare documentation related to testing and student support services.
- Conduct follow-up activities with inactive participants to encourage re-engagement and program completion.
- Provide administrative support to ensure efficient program operations.
- Travel throughout the designated service area to conduct outreach, recruitment, and partnership activities.
- Knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and able to learn and use institutional software systems.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree.
- Experience: 2 years of progressively responsible administrative experience in an educational or grant-funded setting, working with low-income, first-generation college students or similar populations.
- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (oral and written) is required.
- Strong understanding of higher education processes, including academic and financial aid procedures.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with a commitment to excellent customer service.
- Proficiency in computer applications and database management systems.
