Overview
Join Team Atlantis! We are seeking a skilled and experienced Lead Cook to join the culinary team at Atlantis Casino Resort Spa Buffet.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and present a diverse range of dishes, while maintaining consistency and excellence in taste.
- Collaborate with the executive chef and management to create and update sections of the buffet menu, introducing new dishes, flavors, and seasonal variations that align with the resort's culinary vision.
- Lead and manage a team of cooks and kitchen staff in the cuisine section, ensuring adherence to standardized recipes, portion sizes, and maintaining high-quality output.
- Train and mentor kitchen staff in cooking techniques, food safety practices, and the proper use of kitchen equipment, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.
- Assist in inventory control, ensuring optimal stock levels of ingredients, spices, and supplies. Monitor food costs and minimize waste through efficient utilization.
- Maintain and enforce strict adherence to food safety and sanitation standards, including proper food handling, storage, and cleanliness of the kitchen area.
- Conduct regular inspections of food preparation and presentation to uphold high standards of quality and taste consistency. Address any issues promptly and ensure appropriate corrective actions are taken.
- Interact with guests, answer their questions about dishes, accommodate special dietary requests, and ensure their satisfaction with the dining experience at Atlantis Casino Resort Spa.
- Foster effective communication and coordination with other kitchen sections to ensure seamless operation and timely delivery of food items for the buffet.
- Stay up-to-date with culinary trends, explore new ingredients and cooking techniques, and contribute to the ongoing improvement of the menu, aligning with the resort's commitment to culinary excellence.
- Other duties as assigned my management.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Cook or Chef, with a deep understanding of various cooking techniques, flavors, and ingredients.
- Strong leadership and supervisory abilities to manage a team effectively and ensure the smooth operation of the kitchen.
- Ability to develop innovative and unique dishes while maintaining authenticity and aligning with the buffet's guidelines and Atlantis Casino Resort Spa's culinary vision.
- Keen eye for detail in food presentation, ensuring dishes are visually appealing and appetizing.
- Efficiently manage time and prioritize tasks to meet the demanding requirements of the buffet service.
- Excellent verbal communication skills to interact with team members and guests effectively.
- Ability to adapt to changing demands, work under pressure, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and practices, including HACCP principles, to ensure compliance in a high-volume buffet setting.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects, and work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy pots, pans, and trays.
- Comfortable working in a hot and fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Be able to lift 50 pounds safely.
- Be able to stand for long periods of the time.
- Must be able to move freely in confined spaces.
- Must adhere to all appearance standards, including but not limited to no "visible" tattoos/piercings or unnatural hair colors.
