What You'll Do
- Prepares and cooks meals in accordance with state regulations and department-approved recipes.
- Uses only demonstrated and achieved equipment and adheres to daily, weekly, and monthly schedules for cleaning food service equipment.
- Keeps kitchen and other dietary areas clean, organized, and well-stocked.
- Maintains safe, sanitary conditions in storage areas according to established policy and procedure.
- Attends and participates in staff meetings and other assigned meetings.
- Coordinates with medical staff and other departments to ensure efficiency as needed.
- Enhances professional growth and development through educational programs and workshops.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Aid in training new Dietary employees.
- Aid in recurrent training for all Dietary employees.
- Be available for all scheduled shifts and cover shifts when needed.
- Follow the set schedule for defrosting necessary ingredients for daily meals.
- Provide input to complete staff performance evaluations.
- Recommend corrective action related to staff performance to the Department Director.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- ServSafe Certification.
- Exceptional knowledge of dietary terminology and processes or the ability to learn and retain quickly.
- Strong communication skills and a service-focused attitude.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
- Ability to work independently with normal supervision and use good judgment.
- Professionalism and commitment to confidentiality.

Work Setting & Physical Requirements
- Work is performed in kitchen and dietary service areas; must be able to navigate all departments as needed.
- Light to moderate work, including reaching, bending, stooping, and handling objects.
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to communicate effectively (talk/hear) and perform tasks requiring close attention to detail (see).
- Occasional after-hours calls may occur.
