About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced Lead Architectural Commercial Interior Designer (independent contractor) to lead commercial projects with confidence, creativity, and strategic thinking. The ideal candidate will collaborate to set the vision, manage timelines and deliverables, and work closely with internal and external partners to bring concepts to life. You’ll contribute to high-quality project outcomes while mentoring Junior Interior Designers throughout the CDG design process and defined standards.

Responsibilities
- Lead projects from concept design to construction administration
- Develop detailed, innovative solutions that meet budget requirements as well as ADA and safety codes
- Mentor junior design staff throughout the design process; review work, provide feedback, and guide their growth
- Research and select appropriate finishes and materials for commercial applications that align with project budgets and durability standards
- Create polished presentations and present to clients, property management, and equity partners
- Produce full construction documents in Revit using established industry and company standards
- Review, annotate, and provide feedback on submittals, RFIs, and construction progress
- Coordinate with clients, consultants, and internal teams
- Travel occasionally to client meetings and job sites (local and occasional out-of-state) with eligible travel expenses reimbursed by CDG
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging design trends, sustainable materials, and key innovations

Requirements
- Minimum of 3–4+ years of lead commercial interior design experience across multifamily, workplace, and hospitality sectors
- Professional degree in Interior Design from an accredited university
- Proven leadership and organizational skills
- Confidence and skill in managing junior team members and guiding project workflow
- Proficiency in Revit (required)
- Skilled in Bluebeam, AutoCAD, BIM360, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with Monday.com is a plus
- Capable of adapting to and learning new tools and software
- Exceptional time management and clear communication (written and verbal)
- Strong space planning ability and design sensibility
- Positive, self-motivated, proactive mindset with a collaborative spirit
Pay
Competitive hourly rate (every hour paid).
Schedule
Hybrid/remote; location in Sandy Springs/Atlanta. Independent contractor (1099).
