Back to Career Opportunities Interior Designer Lead Back to Career Opportunities Basic Function: The Interior Design Lead serves as the firm’s primary interior design resource, providing leadership, project oversight, and technical guidance throughout project delivery. Acting as the interior design lead for assigned projects, this position is responsible for managing scope, supporting fee development, coordinating project resources, mentoring staff, and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality interior design services. The role works closely with Project Managers, architects, and engineers to deliver functional, technically sound interior environments on schedule and within budget. The Interior Design Lead also plays a key role in advancing the firm’s interior design practice through quality standards, staff development, and business development initiatives. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Including, but not limited to: Lead, mentor, and support the Interior Design team, fostering professional growth and design excellence.Partner with internal Project Managers on fee development, scope management, budgeting, scheduling, and resource planning for interior design services.Collaborate with clients and project teams to develop functional, code-compliant, and client-focused interior design solutions.Lead interior design efforts through all project phases, including programming, space planning, design development, construction documentation, and construction administration.Oversee the preparation and quality review of interior design deliverables, including finish plans, schedules, specifications, renderings, and related project documentation.Coordinate interior design requirements with architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, and vendors to ensure integrated project delivery.Develop and maintain interior design standards, workflows, and presentation materials to promote consistency and quality across projects.Support business development initiatives by building client relationships and identifying opportunities to grow the firm’s interior design services. Qualifications And Skills Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and collaborate effectively with design professionals and multidisciplinary project teams.Thorough understanding of project management principles, fee management, and integrated project delivery processes.Strong knowledge of interior design principles, materials, finishes, furniture, lighting, and specifications.Proficiency in Revit is a must.Experience with visualization software such as Twinmotion, Enscape, or similar platforms is preferred, but not required.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership skills.Ability to manage multiple projects while balancing design quality, budgets, schedules, and client expectations. Education And Experience Bachelor’s or master’s degree in an accredited Interior design or Interior Architecture, or an equivalent combination of educationMinimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible interior design experience.Minimum of two (2) years of project management experienceDemonstrated experience leading projects, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, mentoring staff, and managing interior design project scope and deliverables.Experience working within a commercial architecture, engineering, or multidisciplinary design firm strongly preferred.NCIDQ Certification preferred.
