Job Summary
Maximus is seeking a Lead Cloud Architect with extensive experience designing, integrating, and leading enterprise-scale multi-cloud environments for Department of Defense missions.
Requirements
- Proven ability to deliver secure, scalable, and resilient cloud architectures aligned with Government-led strategies and DoD compliance frameworks.
- Expert in multi-cloud integration, DevSecOps enablement, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and cloud security architecture, supporting mission-critical operations across multiple Impact Levels.
- Owns the technical vision and architecture for the A1 Multi-Cloud Ecosystem, ensuring scalability, resilience, and integration of cloud service providers and enterprise services.
Responsibilities
- Serve as senior technical authority for enterprise cloud architecture, ensuring alignment with Government strategy, mission objectives, and Contractor Program Management Lead (PML)
- Design and govern multi-cloud architecture (Azure, AWS, GovCloud); develop scalable multi-account and multi-tenant architectures, including hub-and-spoke models and governance controls
- Lead CSP integration and platform modernization, including identity, networking, shared services, and architectural roadmaps
- Define and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) strategies for automated provisioning, configuration management, and lifecycle operations
- Ensure interoperability across mission systems and enterprise platforms
- Provide technical oversight for engineering and DevSecOps teams to ensure integrated, secure, automated software delivery
- Design high-availability and resilient cloud solutions to meet performance requirements including uptime, scalability, and low latency
- Oversee development and documentation of test plans related to the multicloud ecosystem
- Lead implementation of disaster recovery architectures, including cross-region replication and continuity of operations strategies
- Develop and enforce cloud security architecture aligned with RMF, NIST 800-53, FedRAMP, and DISA requirements
- Develop and maintain architecture documentation including system diagrams, technical specifications, and SOPs
- Support Government decision-making through technical analysis, briefings, and advisory recommendations
Qualifications
- Active Secret security clearance required
- 8+ years enterprise architecture and cloud solutions
- Ability to commute as needed to the work site in San Antonio, Texas
- Cloud architect certification (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Experience designing DoD reference architectures in government-owned enterprise cloud ecosystems (e.g., Cloud One, Platform One)
- Active IAT/IAM Level II certification
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Expertise in hybrid/multi-cloud networking, identity federation (Zero Trust) plus Cloud security architecture and compliance (RMF, FedRAMP, DISA)
- Relevant and recent experience with DevSecOps pipelines and automated deployment strategies (to include zero downtime and blue/green deployment best practices in order to achieve high-availability and other similar Service Level Agreements)
- Experience with API-first architectures and microservices
- Familiarity with data platforms, AI/ML integration, and analytics pipelines
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) technologies (Terraform, CloudFormation)
- Knowledge of FinOps and cloud cost optimization practices
- Strong engagement and executive-level technical communication with internal and external stakeholders
