Lead Client Funds Accounting (Tax)

About the role
This fully remote position (U.S. only) allows you to work from home or your location of record with no in-office requirements. You must be available five days per week during designated work hours. The work arrangement is subject to change based on business needs and individual performance, which may include adjustments to on-site requirements or schedule expectations.
The Lead Client Funds Accounting is responsible for managing the daily tasks and performance of CFA analysts, ensuring the team accurately reconciles all client funds accounts for Paylocity.
Responsibilities
- Manage, review, and approve day-to-day activities of staff, including daily/weekly reconciliation for payroll, tax, and benefit accounts.
- Mentor and provide performance evaluations for select staff members.
- Provide training to the team for technical and professional development.
- Establish weekly assignments that foster team and company success while stimulating individual growth.
- Make decisions based on experience and proactively address problem situations to reduce liability.
- Prepare month-end reconciliations, research financial differences, and support Corporate Accounting.
- Collaborate with the Product Team and other internal stakeholders to test and roll out new business initiatives.
- Monitor cash across the client base to mitigate risk, ensure proper recording of activity, and recommend action plans for cash shortfalls or excesses.
- Develop policies and procedures that promote strong internal controls, increase efficiency, and enable rapid scaling.
- Work closely with Banking/Tax Treasury and Finance teams to recommend fixes for MasterTax or Web Pay activities.
- Resolve exceptions and enhance cross-functional collaboration and reporting with the Banking/Tax Treasury team.
- Recommend and instruct staff to make cash collections as indicated by reports.
- Ensure department operating procedures and internal controls are followed.
- Drive continued process improvement.
- Review and approve process documentation.
- Support Client Services inquiries.
- Support Audit teams to ensure timely delivery of documentation requests related to SOX/SOC and other compliance requirements.
- Review and approve Client Credits in accordance with Company policies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting.
- 5+ years’ experience in a payroll service or banking operations.
- 3+ years in service bureau account reconciliations.
- Experience managing and mentoring staff.
- MasterTax Software experience.
- Thorough understanding of payroll service bureaus.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong team and individual work ethic.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in MS applications, including Excel and Access.
- High level of integrity.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for extended periods (7-8 hours per day).
- Use of computer and phone systems, including typing and operating multiple software programs simultaneously.
Pay
The pay range for this position is $60,600 - $70,000 per year. Base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This position is also eligible for an annual bonus based on individual performance.
