About the role
The Lead Civil Municipal Engineer will play a pivotal role in managing multiple projects for various clients, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and maintaining strong client relationships.
Responsibilities
- Develop and coordinate projects for a variety of clients
- Manage SEH design and construction phase services on multiple projects
- Maintain relationships with clients throughout project development and post-completion
- Stay updated on relevant regulatory programs, funding opportunities, and design standards through continuing education and professional association involvement
- Prepare project approaches, scopes, and fees necessary to complete projects
- Present proposals to clients, interview for projects, and select project teams
- Determine major project design decisions in collaboration with clients
- Mentor staff of engineering professionals
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
- Licensed Professional Engineer in Minnesota
- Established relationships with municipal clients or potential clients in and throughout the state of MN
- Experience in project management and proposal/client management
- Ability to attend and present at municipal/public meetings
- Able to travel for team meetings, client consultations, business development excursions, on-site inspections/visits, etc., including occasional overnight travel
- Minimum of 3-4 days per week working from the Brainerd SEH office
Qualifications
- At least ten (10) years of previous experience
- Previous experience managing construction inspection staff
- Experience with municipal street and utility design/construction
- Experience with a variety of civil design/construction projects
- Experience managing a staff of engineering professionals and serving as a technical mentor for junior level staff

SEH offers a comprehensive benefits package, including paid family leave, flexible holidays, and a base compensation range of $110,000 to $135,000 based on skill set and experience.
